Canterbury landscape and garden designer

Laura Batchelor | Landscape Architect

BLA Hons, BSc, NZ Certificate in Horticulture (Level 3)

Laura grew up between urban Christchurch and the high country of Burkes Pass, where time spent in the hills and native bush sparked a lifelong connection to the outdoors. With a background in ecology from the University of Canterbury, she discovered her passion for plants and design while working with DOC on Stewart Island.

Laura went on to complete a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture with First Class Honours from Lincoln University in 2011. Since then, she has worked across a wide range of projects—from large-scale reserves, playgrounds and riparian projects through to community spaces, historic places and residential gardens. Further study in horticulture has deepened her plant knowledge and enriched her design approach.

She is currently creating her own garden for a cedar-clad ‘tree house’ overlooking Christchurch and enjoys helping others realise the potential of their outdoor spaces—no matter the size—while inspiring a love for the outdoors along the way.

June | Office Companion

When not aerating the compost heap or ‘helping’ dig over the garden, she is often found sleeping next to the office heater or basking in a ray of sun.

June ensures daily adventure/exercise and loves a good walk through the gardens or up the hill!
